Responsive Websites
Post by

A responsive website design will automatically conform to the shape of the device it's being displayed on. Devices include desktop/laptop computers, smart phones and tablets. Since the content responds to the device it results in a more positive user experience because the content is legible and easier to read. If a website is not responsive, the browser needs to pinch an enlarge the screen in order to better view the content. If a viewer gets frustrated in reading content on an unresponsive website, it's very likely they'll leave the site and look for another one that is mobile friendly. Since more and more browsers view websites on smart phones, it's important to have a responsive website. This usually means upgrading your current site with a new responsive template. In a mobile search, Google will let browsers know if a site is responsive by adding "Mobile-friendly" next to the meta description. See image with Mobile-friendly circled in red.

I especially like categorizing videos in YouTube's playlist option, which makes it easy for browsers to search for a particular video.

Google Ranking Factors

Google looks at over 200 items to determine if a website will come up in a browser's search query. Google will never tell you these factors but most experts have a good idea of what the main items are. Not all the factors are equally important. However there are few items that have the biggest search impact. Lets take a look.

Website Fluff
Post by

When I write website content, I make every word count and have the readers in mind. Often I find many sites containing what I call website fluff. When I realize the fluff, I start to hear the sound of Charlie Brown's teacher would make..waaa..waaa..waaa.
